Oronsaye Report: Zulum Urges FG Against Merging Army University with NDA

Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has urged the Federal Government to reconsider its decision to merge the Nigerian Army University Biu, Borno State, with the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) in Kaduna. The recommendation came from the Oronsaye Report, which proposes merging the new Army university with the decades-old NDA.

Governor Zulum expressed concerns that such a merger could inadvertently assist insurgents in their mission to disrupt western education. He emphasized the importance of the Army University, especially for the people of Borno State and the entire North-East region, given the challenges they have faced over the years.

The Oronsaye Report, which has been under review for twelve years, aims to streamline government agencies and reduce the cost of governance. The Federal Government recently approved some of its recommendations, including the merger of certain institutions, sparking debates and concerns like those raised by Governor Zulum.

The implementation of the Oronsaye Report marks a significant step in the government's efforts to reform and optimize governance structures. However, stakeholders like Governor Zulum emphasize the need for careful consideration of the implications, especially in regions facing unique challenges like Borno State.
