Police Investigating Death of University of Port Harcourt Student Found in Apartment

The Rivers State Police Command has initiated an investigation into the death of a female student of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) whose lifeless body was discovered in her off-campus apartment in Aluu, Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state. The student, identified as Adaeze, was a 200-level undergraduate majoring in Accounting.

This tragic incident comes just two weeks after the grim discovery of the decomposing body of a 300-level UNIPORT undergraduate student majoring in Biochemistry, Justina Otuene. Otuene's life was allegedly taken by her ex-lover, Damian Okoligwe, a 400-level student of Petrochemical Engineering at UNIPORT. Police have since arrested Okoligwe in connection with Otuene's death.

Prof. Chima Wokocha, the Dean of Student Affairs at UNIPORT, confirmed that Adaeze's lifeless body was found in her off-campus residence in Aluu. The university management, along with law enforcement officials, visited the scene of the incident. Furthermore, the parents of the deceased student have been notified.

The spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, verified the incident and stated that an ongoing investigation aims to determine the circumstances leading to Adaeze's death. The Divisional Police Officer received a report from a landlord who discovered the student on the ground. Foam was observed coming from her nose and mouth, and a container of sniper was found near her. She was quickly taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
