Senator Yayi Donates 2-Storey Hospital Complex to FUNAAB as University Holds Workshop on Ranking Metrics
The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, FUNAAB, Professor Babatunde Kehinde, has disclosed that a two-storey hospital complex currently under construction at the University Health Services was donated to the University by the Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriations and Ogun State APC Gubernatorial candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi.
The Vice-Chancellor, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Professor Olusegun Idowu, made the disclosure on Tuesday, August 26, 2026, at the closing ceremony of the Two-Day Train-the-Trainers Workshop on University Ranking Metrics organised by the FUNAAB Ranking Advisory Committee, FURAC.
Professor Kehinde said the project is being executed on a Build-and-Furnish basis and is expected to be completed and commissioned for use by December 2026.
Earlier, the Director, Directorate of Academic Planning, DAP, Professor Biodun Badmus, stressed that improving FUNAAB’s ranking should not be the responsibility of a single Directorate or Academic Unit. He urged Academic and Non-Teaching Units to collaborate to provide accurate data, document institutional achievements, strengthen research visibility, improve facilities, develop partnerships, and respond promptly to ranking-related requests. He also identified Academic Planners as key liaison officers between Colleges and Departments in facilitating the collection and submission of relevant information.

Presentations at the workshop covered key areas of university ranking. The Acting Director, Directorate of Information and Communication Technology Services, DICTS, Mr. Temitope Soretire, presented on Webometrics Ranking: Presence, Visibility, Transparency and Excellence. The University Librarian, Professor Abayomi Owolabi, spoke on Repositories Ranking: The Size, Scholar, Visibility and Rich Files.
The Director, World Bank Centre of Excellence in Agricultural Development and Sustainable Environment, CEADESE, Professor Adeboye Fafiolu, presented on International Outlook: Improving the Linkages and Collaborative Drive of FUNAAB. Dr. Adekunle Oyelami addressed Responsible and Ethical Use of Artificial Intelligence in Academic Writing and Research.
Other presenters included the Bursar, Mr. Olukayode Osinuga, who spoke on Establishing a Robust Industry Partnership Towards Increasing the Annual Income of FUNAAB; the Director, Physical Planning, Engineer Kehinde Bamisile, who presented on Provision of Infrastructural Facilities: A Basic Requirement; and the Alumni Global President, Otunba Bolaji Gbadamosi, represented by the Director, Alumni Ventures, Mr. Biodun Ajayi, who spoke on Alumni Involvement in All Development Phases of FUNAAB.
The workshop ended with the presentation of certificates to participants. It was aimed at strengthening collective efforts to improve FUNAAB’s visibility, research impact, and performance in global university rankings.
