The Vice Chancellor of Summit University, Offa, Kwara State, Professor Abiodun Musa Aibinu, has emphasized that the establishment of Summit University aims to combat the recurring strikes in public universities. Addressing journalists during the university's maiden combined convocation ceremonies, Professor Aibinu highlighted the approval for the establishment of both public and private universities by the government to revitalize the nation's education system, which has faced challenges and setbacks over the years.

Summit University, Offa, achieved significant milestones, obtaining full accreditations for all academic programs in accreditation exercises conducted by the National Universities Commission (NUC) in 2019, 2021, and 2022. The strategic decision to establish the university in Offa, Kwara state, was deliberate, considering Offa's historical significance as a hub for education and its tradition of establishing educational institutions.
Professor Aibinu expressed satisfaction with the institution's progress, citing achievements such as well-equipped laboratories, a state-of-the-art library with e-facilities, and high-speed internet connectivity. He noted the university's success in securing research grants, winning its first international research grant in October 2023 for a project titled "Artificial Intelligence for females in Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (A14FS)."

The four-day combined convocation activities included a Research Exhibition, groundbreaking ceremonies, commissioning of the new central mosque, investiture of the university Chancellor, Alhaji (Dr.) Suleiman Adegunwa (OFR), conferment of Honorary Doctorate Degree Honors (Honoris Causa), a groundbreaking ceremony for the Senate building, the launching of Summit University's N5 billion development plan, and the award of Bachelor's degrees during the convocation ceremony.
Summit University (SUN) Offa, founded by the Ansar-ud-deen Society of Nigeria (ADSN), aims to provide high-quality tertiary education to all Nigerians, irrespective of religious beliefs, ethnicity, gender, or creed.
