Taraba State University Commissions New Sandwich Building, Unveils Book of Readings

The Vice-Chancellor of Taraba State University, TSU, Jalingo, Professor Sunday Paul Bako, alongside members of the University Management, on Monday commissioned the newly completed Sandwich Building and presided over the public presentation of the Sandwich Book of Readings.

The event, described as a significant stride towards strengthening teacher education and academic development, attracted principal officers, deans, directors, academic staff, and other stakeholders. They gathered to celebrate what was described as another milestone in the University's continuous expansion under the leadership of Professor Sunday Paul Bako.

In his welcome address, the Director of the Sandwich Programme, Dr. Chia I. Azuaga, expressed appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor for the encouragement, confidence, and institutional support that made the successful completion of the new building and publication of the book possible. He noted that the projects would significantly enhance the operations and academic delivery of the Sandwich Programme.

Speaking on behalf of the Sandwich Programme Board, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Research and Innovation, and Board Chairman, Associate Professor Ahmad Baba Muhammad, described the commissioning as a landmark achievement and a testament to the Vice-Chancellor's visionary leadership.

He commended Professor Sunday Paul Bako for securing the successful accreditation of all Sandwich Programme courses, describing the accomplishment as a major milestone in the history of the programme and a reflection of the University's commitment to quality assurance.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Development Services, Professor Mahmood Hamidu Umar, officially unveiled the Sandwich Book of Readings. The book was edited by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sunday Paul Bako, and reviewed by the Director of Advancement, Prof. Mustapha A. Baba Ibi, who described it as a rich academic resource that will contribute meaningfully to scholarship, teaching, and research.

Delivering a goodwill message, the Registrar of the University, Dr. Joseph Umar Bibinu, lauded Professor Sunday Paul Bako for his transformational leadership and commitment to repositioning Taraba State University among Nigeria's leading institutions of higher learning. He noted that the University's achievements are a product of strategic leadership and purposeful administration.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the growth and development of the University, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Prof. Jonathan Reuben, presented an Award of Excellence to the Vice-Chancellor for his commitment to excellence and institutional transformation.

In his remarks, Professor Sunday Paul Bako commended the Director of the Sandwich Programme, Dr. Chia I. Azuaga, for his initiative and dedication in executing projects that have added value to the University. He urged other departments and directorates to emulate the spirit of innovation and commitment demonstrated by the Sandwich Programme.

The Vice-Chancellor also expressed gratitude to the Executive Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, for his support for education and the development of Taraba State University. He stated that the Governor's investments and commitment to the education sector continue to strengthen the University's capacity to deliver quality teaching, research, and community service.

The commissioning of the new Sandwich Building and the unveiling of the Sandwich Book of Readings mark another significant achievement in Taraba State University's drive to expand academic infrastructure, promote scholarship, and consolidate its position as a centre of excellence under the leadership of Professor Sunday Paul Bako.
