The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a scheduled seven-hour blackout affecting electricity consumers in various areas, including Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ife, Ilesa, and other parts of Osun State. The blackout, slated for Friday, is necessitated by maintenance activities to replace a faulty circuit breaker safeguarding the Osogbo/Ilesha/Ife-Ondo 132kV transmission line.

TCN's spokesperson, Ndidi Mbah, stated that the maintenance crew will conduct the replacement on Friday, May 10th, 2024, between 10 am and 5 pm. The affected areas will experience disruptions in bulk power supply, impacting transmission substations in Ile-Ife, Ilesha, and Ondo. Consequently, power distribution companies (DisCos) in Ibadan and Benin will be unable to distribute power for seven hours through various feeders servicing the listed areas.
