Three UNILAG Staff Inducted as NIM Fellows at 2025 Induction Luncheon

Three senior members of staff of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) have been conferred with the prestigious Fellowship of the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered) during the 2025 Fellows Awards & Spouses’ Day Luncheon held on Thursday, August 21, at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Three senior members of staff of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) have been conferred with the prestigious Fellowship of the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered) during the 2025 Fellows Awards & Spouses’ Day Luncheon held on Thursday, August 21, at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The newly inducted Fellows are:

  • Professor Sunday Abayomi Adebisi, Director, Entrepreneurship Skills and Development Centre;
  • Mr. Akinwunmi Abolade, Deputy Registrar, Office of the Vice-Chancellor; and
  • Mr. Dayo Akeju, Principal Assistant Registrar, Institute of Continuing Education (ICE).

Their induction into the Fellowship grade — the Institute’s highest professional membership rank — underscores not only personal achievement and leadership distinction but also UNILAG’s commitment to nurturing excellence in administration, innovation, and national development.

The event, attended by captains of industry, academics, and members of the diplomatic community, featured a keynote lecture delivered by Rear Admiral Babatunde Akintunde Egbedina (Rtd.), FNIM, on the theme “Building Trust and Accountability: The Human Element of Decentralised Command within Divisional Structures.”

Present at the ceremony were UNILAG Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade T. Ogunsola, OON, FAS, alongside former Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, FAS, and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and Research), Professor Bola Oboh, reflecting strong institutional support for the honourees.

In his welcome address, President and Chairman of Council of the Institute, Commodore Abimbola Ayuba (Rtd.), FNIM, fdc, described the event as a celebration of individuals who have demonstrated excellence, character, and impact. He emphasized the meticulous process of elevation to Fellowship, noting that only the most deserving professionals earn the honour.

Commodore Ayuba also unveiled plans for the establishment of the NIM Resource Centre, a modern digital hub designed to boost the Institute’s research and learning capacity, and urged the new Fellows to champion the initiative.

The Registrar/Chief Executive of the Institute, Mrs. Taiwo Ganiyat Olusesi, MNIM, received special commendation for her team’s coordination and hospitality at the event.

The ceremony, marked by classical music, fine dining, and the induction of more than 190 new Fellows across diverse sectors, reinforced NIM’s tradition of promoting ethical leadership, service, and integrity since its inception in 1963.

The recognition of the three UNILAG staff further cements the University’s reputation as a breeding ground for administrative and academic excellence.
