Two EKSU Alumni Elevated to the Prestigious Rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria

Ekiti State University, EKSU, Ado-Ekiti, has recorded another remarkable feat as two of its distinguished alumni have been elevated to the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, the highest professional distinction for legal practitioners in the country.

The two alumni SAN-designates are Chief Gbenga Adaramola, Esq., a member of the University's 1997 graduating set, and Jonathan Akintola Makinde, Esq., of the 2012 graduating set. The duo made the list of 68 legal practitioners recently approved for conferment and elevation to the status of Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, by the Legal Practitioners' Privileges Committee, LPPC, at its 174th Plenary Session held on 23rd July, 2026.

Chief Gbenga Adaramola, Esq., was listed as serial number 21, while Jonathan Akintola Makinde, Esq., appeared as serial number 66 in the official list conveying the names of the successful appointees, as released by the Legal Practitioners' Privileges Committee.

The rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria is conferred on legal practitioners who have demonstrated exceptional distinction in legal practice, advocacy and outstanding contributions to the development of jurisprudence in Nigeria.

The Vice-Chancellor of Ekiti State University, Professor Joseph Babatola Ayodele, congratulated the two distinguished alumni on their well-deserved elevation, describing the achievement as a source of immense pride to the University and further affirmation of the quality of graduates produced by the institution.

Professor Ayodele noted that the recognition reflects the culture of excellence, professionalism and integrity that Ekiti State University continues to instil in its students, expressing confidence that the new Senior Advocates of Nigeria would continue to uphold the highest standards of the legal profession and serve as worthy ambassadors of Ekiti State University, which is their alma mater.

The Vice-Chancellor also commended the Visitor to the University and Governor of Ekiti State, His Excellency, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, for his visionary leadership, consistent support and strategic investments which have strengthened the institution's capacity to deliver quality teaching, research, innovation and community service.

The Vice-Chancellor reaffirmed the University's commitment to producing graduates who would excel in their chosen careers and make meaningful contributions to national development.

Their conferment will culminate in the official Swearing-in Ceremony scheduled to hold on Monday, 12th October, 2026, after the successful completion of the mandatory pre-swearing-in induction programme as stipulated by the Legal Practitioners' Privileges Committee.

The elevation of Chief Gbenga Adaramola and Jonathan Akintola Makinde to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria further reinforces Ekiti State University's growing legacy of producing accomplished professionals who continue to distinguish themselves in the legal profession and other fields of human endeavour, both within Nigeria and beyond.
