The School of Health Information Management, University College Hospital Ibadan has held its 9th matriculation ceremony for newly admitted students for the 2025/2026 academic session.

The ceremony, which took place on April 7, 2026, formally inducted fresh students into the institution’s academic and professional training programme in health information management.

In her welcome address, the Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee and Provost of the School, Prof. Olubukola Adeshina, represented by Prof. Olusola Ibiyemi, urged the matriculating students to remain focused on their studies, uphold discipline, and avoid behaviours that could undermine their academic progress.

The Head of the School, Mr. Olufemi Omolade, also charged the new students to demonstrate discipline and commitment throughout the duration of their training, stressing the importance of consistency and academic responsibility.

The Chief Medical Director, Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo, congratulated the students and described matriculation as a significant milestone in their academic journey. He noted that Health Information Management plays a central role in effective healthcare delivery, particularly in the accurate collection, management, analysis, and protection of health data essential for patient care, research, and health policy formulation.

He further advised the students to maintain focus, avoid distractions, and embrace professionalism from the onset of their training, emphasizing core values such as honesty, confidentiality, teamwork, and responsibility as foundational to their future careers in healthcare.
