Thomas Adewumi University has hosted the Engineering Accreditation Committee of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria for a three-day professional training workshop aimed at strengthening engineering education and accreditation standards in Nigeria.

The high-impact workshop brought together engineering professionals and academics from several institutions, including Adeleke University, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, University of Nigeria Nsukka, Federal University of Technology Akure, and Bamidele Olumilua University of Education Science and Technology, alongside COREN officials.
The Vice-Chancellor of TAU, Prof. Francisca O. Oladipo, welcomed participants and described the institution as an “engineering campus,” underscoring its focus on practical training, industry relevance, and the development of globally competitive engineers.
The Lead Facilitator, Prof. John Adesiji Olorunmaiye, delivered technical sessions centred on Outcome-Based Education (OBE), highlighting the transition from traditional teaching methods to a competency-driven model that prioritises knowledge, skills, and professional attitude.
Participants were trained on accreditation procedures, curriculum design, quality assurance mechanisms, and continuous improvement frameworks, all aimed at strengthening engineering programme delivery across Nigerian universities.

The workshop reinforced growing collaboration between institutions and regulators as part of broader efforts to improve engineering standards and align academic outputs with industry expectations.
