UDUS Governing Council Approves Promotion of 8 Professors, 4 Associate Professors

The Governing Council of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS), has approved the promotion of twelve academic staff members, with eight elevated to Professor and four to the associate rank.

The decision was taken at the Council’s meeting, held on Monday, December 8, 2025, following recommendations from the university’s Appointments and Promotions Committee.

Those promoted to Professor include Dr. Attahiru S. Mainiyo (Qur’anic Sciences); Dr. Musa Shehu, Dr. Yahaya Idris, and Dr. Nasiru Aminu (Hausa Culture); Dr. Shehu Shayau (Nutritional Biochemistry); Dr. Ugwa Oguejifor Jane (Pharmacology and Toxicology); Dr. Umaru Millicent Ladi (Pharmacology and Toxicology); and Dr. Muhammad Sani Magami (Algebra). 

The four promoted to associate rank are Dr. Mainasara Muhammad Murtala (Taxonomy and Ethnobotany); Dr. Mulika F. Usman (Entrepreneurship); Dr. Akpootu Davidson Olafe (Atmospheric Physics); and Dr. Nasiru Suleiman (Veterinary Biochemistry).

Following the Council’s approval, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Usmanu Danfodiyo University Chapter, has publicly congratulated the promoted lecturers, describing the elevations as a testament to their dedication and resilience.

 “This is a testimony of your hard work, dedication, and resilience,” said Prof. A.N. Abdullahi, Chairperson of ASUU-UDUS. 

The Chairperson further prayed that the accomplishment would serve as a lasting source of inspiration and benefit.
