UI Professor Highlights Role of Reservoir Engineers in Oil and Gas Industry

A University of Ibadan professor has emphasized the importance of reservoir engineers being versatile and specialized in their field. Delivering the 596th Inaugural Lecture, the professor explained that reservoir engineers play a crucial role in the oil and gas industry, requiring a broad range of skills.

The professor highlighted the challenges faced by reservoir engineers, including uncertainty and incomplete data. To improve the quality of outputs, the professor recommended increased funding for universities, staff development, and partnerships between universities and industry players.

The professor also advocated for government and industry partnerships with universities beyond research grants, and for scholarships or postgraduate students in critical areas. By working together, the professor believes Nigeria can develop a robust oil and gas industry.
