UNESCO-ICHEI Delegation Visits ABU, Calls On Vice Chancellor

A delegation from UNESCO International Centre for Higher Education Innovation (UNESCO-ICHEI) visited Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) and met with Vice Chancellor Prof. Kabiru Bala.

The delegation, led by Prof. Jiansheng Liang, aimed to brief the Vice Chancellor on the National Dialogue about AI in higher education held in Abuja on July 18, 2024.

Key points from the visit include:

- The National Dialogue aimed to guide innovative AI use in Nigerian higher education.

- UNESCO-ICHEI partners with 49 organizations and 42 agencies, having branches in South Africa, Gambia, and Vietnam

- Two more dialogues are planned for 2024, and UNESCO-ICHEI is reviewing online courses and developing digital competency for members.

- Vice Chancellor Prof. Kabiru Bala requested another smart classroom due to the growing student and staff population.

- The Pro-Chancellor assured the delegation of the University's support and promised to take the issue to the Federal Government for proper implementation.
