UniAbuja Social Sciences Faculty Honors Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf at Annual Academic Summit

The Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Abuja has conferred a prestigious honour on the Executive Governor of Kano State, His Excellency, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, in recognition of his contributions to governance and leadership. 

The ceremony took place on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at the Faculty of Science Auditorium, Main Campus, during the faculty’s Annual Academic Summit.

The summit, which gathered academics, policymakers, and students, centered on the critical theme: "The Death of Internal Democracy and Party Ideology in Nigeria: A Pragmatic Approach." The award presented to Governor Yusuf highlighted his role in navigating the complexities of Nigeria's current political landscape.

The Governor was represented at the event by Prof. Musa Tukur Yakasai, the Vice-Chancellor of Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology (ADUSTECH), Wudil. 

In his remarks on behalf of the Governor, Prof. Yakasai expressed gratitude to the Faculty of Social Sciences for the recognition. He noted that such academic platforms are essential for dissecting the challenges of party politics and fostering a more ideological approach to governance in Nigeria.

The event underscores the growing synergy between academic institutions and the political leadership in addressing systemic democratic challenges.
