UNILAG Alumni Association Inaugurates School of Postgraduate Studies

In a significant expansion of its global network, the University of Lagos (UNILAG) Alumni Association has officially inaugurated the School of Postgraduate Studies (SPGS) Alumni Chapter.

The inauguration was performed by the President Worldwide of the UNILAG Alumni Association, Engr. IfeOluwa Oyedele, FNSE, FAEng, during the 2026 Annual Dinner and Awards Ceremony held at the Jelili Omotola Multipurpose Hall. The move, which complies with the Association’s constitution, aims to further unify the institution's advanced degree holders.

Engr. Oyedele, supported by the 2nd National Vice President, Otunba Lekan Ajisafe, formally charged the pro-tem executive committee—led by Chief Emeka Ozoani, SAN—to maintain the university's "culture of excellence." Representing the new leadership, Deputy Chairman Mr. George Udobia pledged that the chapter would remain a vanguard for the prestige of the institution.

The evening served as a platform to honor distinguished individuals who have contributed to the growth of postgraduate education at UNILAG. Merit Award recipients included:

Senator Sanni Esinlokun (Lagos Central Senatorial District)

Otunba Lekan Ajisafe (CEO, Post Assurance Brokers Ltd)

Hon. Sesan Daini (Former Chairman, Igbogbo Bayeku LCDA)

Mrs. Veronica Folorunso (Finance and Commercial Executive)

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola, lauded the Dean of SPGS, Prof. Abraham Osinubi, for transforming the school into a vibrant hub of impactful academic activity. She noted that the new alumni chapter is a milestone in the university’s legacy of scholarship and institutional pride.

Engr. Oyedele also utilized the event to encourage all alumni across generations to download and use the UNILAG Alumni App to facilitate better networking and professional engagement within the community.
