The University of Lagos (UNILAG) Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) (Chartered) has emphasized the need to explore opportunities in the renewable energy sector to address Nigeria’s power challenges. This formed the core discussion at the institute’s 14th Annual General Meeting (AGM), held on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at the Arthur Mbanefo Digital Research Centre, UNILAG.

The Management Talk, a key highlight of the AGM, featured Dr. Segun Adaju, Chief Energizing Officer of Consistent Energy Limited, as the guest speaker. He delivered an insightful lecture on the topic: Coping with the Current Nigerian Economy: Harnessing Opportunities in Renewable Energy Sector.

Dr. Adaju identified mismanagement by past leaders as a major factor contributing to Nigeria’s economic challenges. He urged Nigerians to adopt prudent financial management, develop business and career plans for additional income generation, and reduce the cost of living to navigate the economic difficulties effectively.

He, however, expressed concern over Nigeria’s poor energy situation and the government's inability to mitigate its effects on citizens.

Emphasizing the benefits of renewable energy, Dr. Adaju called for policies that would enhance its affordability and widespread adoption among Nigerians. He underscored its potential in promoting sustainable economic growth and reducing dependence on unreliable power sources.
