On September 18, 2024, the University of Lagos School of Postgraduate Studies (SPGS) received a donation of “Reclaiming the Jewel of Africa” from Dr. Waheed Olagunju, Founder & CEO of WVL Development Advisers Limited.

The School of Postgraduate Studies (SPGS) at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) received a significant donation on Wednesday, September 18, 2024. The donation, comprising copies of the book “Reclaiming the Jewel of Africa,” was made by Dr. Waheed Olagunju, Founder & CEO of WVL Development Advisers Limited and former Acting Managing Director & CEO of the Bank of Industry.

Dr. Olagunju, who also has a background as a National Ex Officio member and former National Publicity Secretary of the University of Lagos Alumni Association, presented the books to the SPGS. The book, authored by Olusegun Aganga—a former Minister of Finance, Chairman of the Economic Management Team, and Minister of Industry, Trade & Investments—offers an insider’s perspective on advancing Nigeria and Africa from potential to prosperity. It provides practical insights and recommendations for economic growth and development.

In his remarks, Dr. Olagunju emphasized the book’s value in supporting research at UNILAG, highlighting its discussion on Nigeria’s expectations and strategies for economic advancement.

Prof. Abraham Osinubi, Dean of the School of Postgraduate Studies, expressed gratitude on behalf of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, acknowledging the importance of the donation for advancing research initiatives at the university.

Also present at the presentation were Dr. Adegboyega Ehinmowo, SPGS Sub-Dean and Deputy Registrar, and Mr. Rotimi Adedunye.
