UNILAG Security Unit Strengthens Collaboration with Lagos State Taskforce to Enhance Campus Environment and Safety

In a bid to strengthen security and improve the environment around the University of Lagos (UNILAG), the Coordinator of the Security Unit, Mr. D. M. Omotoso, led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the Chairman of the Lagos State Taskforce, CSP Adetayo Akerele, on Friday, September 26, 2025, at the Taskforce Headquarters in Oshodi.

In a bid to strengthen security and improve the environment around the University of Lagos (UNILAG), the Coordinator of the Security Unit, Mr. D. M. Omotoso, led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the Chairman of the Lagos State Taskforce, CSP Adetayo Akerele, on Friday, September 26, 2025, at the Taskforce Headquarters in Oshodi.

During the visit, Mr. Omotoso conveyed the goodwill of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Tolulope Ogunsola, OON, FAS, and the university management to CSP Akerele. He explained that the engagement was part of efforts to foster stronger collaboration with the Taskforce in tackling issues around the university’s main gate, particularly those related to traffic congestion, environmental sanitation, and the proliferation of illegal traders, hawkers, and hoodlums disrupting order and aesthetics in the area.

In his response, CSP Akerele reaffirmed the Taskforce’s commitment to supporting UNILAG’s security and environmental initiatives. He pledged full cooperation with the Vice-Chancellor’s vision and announced the creation of a dedicated front desk at the Taskforce office to handle cases referred by the UNILAG Security Unit. According to him, such cases would be processed promptly through the Taskforce’s six mobile courts to ensure swift action and deterrence.
