The University of Lagos (UNILAG) officially welcomed its newly appointed Pro-Chancellor, Chief Wole Olanipekun SAN, during his inaugural visit to the institution on Tuesday, July 16, 2024. Chief Olanipekun was warmly received by Vice-Chancellor Professor Folasade Ogunsola and other principal officers of the university.

The visit commenced with a reception at the Office of the Vice-Chancellor, where management team members briefed Chief Olanipekun on the current activities and strategic initiatives across various departments. Professor Ogunsola congratulated the Pro-Chancellor on his appointment, underscoring the university's commitment to collaboration with the Governing Council for the advancement of UNILAG's mission.
In response, Chief Wole Olanipekun expressed his appreciation for the warm reception and described his visit as an opportunity to familiarize himself with UNILAG's management ahead of the inaugural Governing Council meeting scheduled for Monday, July 22, 2024. He commended the university for its remarkable growth and the resilience shown during past challenges, including the successful resistance against renaming the institution in 2012.
Reflecting on UNILAG's achievements, Chief Olanipekun highlighted the pivotal role of a vibrant alumni association in safeguarding the university's heritage and advancing its future goals. He pledged to foster a harmonious relationship with the university management to consolidate and build upon UNILAG's milestones.
During his visit, Chief Wole Olanipekun toured notable facilities within his alma mater, including the University Main Library, Faculty of Law, and the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) Hub NITHUB, reaffirming his commitment to enhancing UNILAG's academic and infrastructural landscape.
