The newly reconstituted (14th) Governing Council, at the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), led by Surveyor Abiodun Jacob Aluko, convened its inaugural meeting on August 26, 2024. The meeting which held at the University Council Chamber, marks the beginning of a new chapter in the institution's leadership.

In his address, Council Chairman Surv. Aluko outlined an ambitious plan for the next four years, focusing on elevating UNILORIN's global ranking. He emphasized the importance of Vision 1:10:100, a refined version of the previous Vision 1:10:500, aiming to position the University among the top 100 institutions worldwide. Surv. Aluko praised the vision of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, and expressed his commitment to making the University’s aspirations a reality.

The newly appointed Council, inaugurated on July 1, 2024, comprises a mix of experienced members and university officials, including Elder Ayobami Oladele Afolabi, Alhaja Abosede Juwon Olayiwola, Pharm. Racheal Tinuke Alabi, and Hon. Akeem Idowu Babatunde. The diverse composition reflects a strong commitment to advancing the University's strategic goals.

Surv. Aluko also highlighted the University’s upcoming 50th anniversary as a milestone to reaffirm its dedication to excellence and progress. He assured that his tenure would be marked by substantial improvements and collaboration with all stakeholders to enhance the University’s global standing.
