UNILORIN Receives Virtual Anatomy Table Donation from 1984 Medical Alumni
The 1984 medical graduates of the University of Ilorin have donated a Virtual Anatomy Dissection Table worth millions of naira to the College of Health Sciences, marking a significant enhancement in anatomy education at the university.
The 1984 set of medical graduates from the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has made a historic donation of a Virtual Anatomy Dissection Table (ANATOMAGE) to the university's College of Health Sciences, aiming to revolutionize anatomy education. The announcement was made on November 18, 2024, during a visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Dr. Ebun Bangboye, a Consultant Nephrologist, highlighted the global excellence of UNILORIN graduates and the transformative education they received. "Whether in WHO, the USA, or South Africa, UNILORIN alumni are making an impact," he said, praising the university's consistent ranking among Nigeria’s best.
The Virtual Anatomy Dissection Table, one of only three in Nigeria, provides an innovative tool for medical education, enabling detailed virtual dissections. Dr. Bangboye added, "This gesture is a continuation of our commitment to give back. We hope future students will benefit immensely from this cutting-edge equipment."
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Egbewole lauded the group’s generosity, noting that their dedication reflects a deep connection to their alma mater. He encouraged other alumni to emulate this example, emphasizing that contributions from alumni strengthen the university's capacity to deliver world-class education.
The equipment commissioning took place at the College of Health Sciences, where Prof. Ayokunle Olawepo, Head of the Department of Anatomy, described it as a "landmark achievement." He affirmed that the table would significantly enhance the learning experience, solidifying the College's reputation as a center of excellence.
The alumni group includes several distinguished professionals in medicine, both within Nigeria and globally, underscoring the strength of UNILORIN's alumni network.
