UNIPORT VC Advocates Digital Transformation in Teaching and Learning

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, Professor Chike Princewill, has urged lecturers to embrace digital technology and integrate it into their teaching methods to enhance learning and improve academic delivery.

Professor Princewill made the call on Tuesday during his opening remarks at a workshop themed “Teaching in the Digital Age,” organised by the College of Health Sciences and held at the Africa Centre of Excellence in Public Health and Toxicological Research (ACEPUTOR), University of Port Harcourt.

The Vice-Chancellor observed that rapid technological advancement has transformed the way teaching, learning and communication are conducted, noting that lecturers can now communicate, collaborate and share information with colleagues and students through digital platforms, even from their offices.

According to him, teaching in the digital age presents enormous opportunities, particularly for medical educators, by providing greater access to knowledge, innovative teaching methods and global best practices.

He encouraged lecturers to leverage digital tools to access information, collaborate with colleagues and improve the quality of teaching and learning.

Professor Princewill urged members of the academic community to remain innovative and open to emerging technologies, calling on them to “wear their thinking caps” as the University continues to position itself for excellence in the digital era.
