The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, Professor Chike Princewill, has reaffirmed the University’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote agricultural development and food security, describing agriculture as indispensable to human survival and development.
Professor Princewill stated this on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, when he received a delegation from the Agricultural Policy Research Network (APRNet), led by Professor Anthony Onoja, on a courtesy visit.
The delegation congratulated Professor Princewill on his appointment as Vice-Chancellor and used the opportunity to inform him of the Agricultural Food Security International Conference scheduled to take place later this month.
The team also sought the Vice-Chancellor’s support towards the successful hosting of the conference.
Responding, Professor Princewill welcomed the delegation and urged members of the Network to remain committed to their service to humanity.
He emphasised the critical importance of agriculture to human existence and called for greater attention to the sector.
The Vice-Chancellor assured the delegation that his administration would support the organisation in any capacity possible, expressing his readiness to contribute to the success of the forthcoming international conference and other initiatives aimed at advancing agricultural development and food security.
