University of Maiduguri's New Vice-Chancellor Receives ASUU Delegation

Professor Mohammed Laminu Mele, the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of the University of Maiduguri, welcomed a delegation from the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) Yola zone yesterday.

Led by Zonal Coordinator Professor Dani Mamman, the visit aimed to congratulate Professor Mele on his recent appointment and express condolences for the recent Maiduguri flood incident, which affected some union members .

The delegation comprised branch chairpersons from six universities:

Professor Mele's appointment as Vice-Chancellor was approved by the University's Governing Council on September 18, 2024 ¹. This visit marks a significant gesture of solidarity and cooperation between the university and ASUU.

The meeting highlights the union's commitment to supporting the university's leadership during challenging times, including the recent flood incident. By coming together, both parties demonstrate their dedication to advancing education and addressing pressing issues in the region.
