The Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Anyaehie, has said Anambra State is well-positioned to become one of Africa's leading centres of innovation, enterprise, and knowledge-driven development through sustained investment in human capital.

Prof. Anyaehie made the assertion while delivering the keynote address at the fifth edition of the Anambra Man of the Year Awards (AMTY), themed "Unstoppable Anambra: Leveraging Human Capital for Global Impact."
Speaking on the state's development prospects, the Vice-Chancellor outlined key priorities for achieving long-term competitiveness, including innovative industrialisation, investment in the digital economy, diaspora-driven investments, talent development beyond the university system, grassroots vocational skills acquisition, small and medium enterprise (SME) incubation, and community mentorship supported by diaspora funding.
He stated that Nnamdi Azikiwe University is already playing a leading role in advancing knowledge creation, innovation, research, digital transformation, entrepreneurship, and industry collaboration.

According to him, the University continues to reshape Anambra's development through the production of skilled graduates, groundbreaking research, strategic partnerships, and community-based solutions.
Prof. Anyaehie stressed that universities should no longer be viewed solely as institutions that award degrees but as catalysts for economic transformation, innovation, and wealth creation capable of producing the ideas and talents needed to drive sustainable development.
He called on governments, industry leaders, development partners, and members of the Anambra diaspora to strengthen collaboration in creating opportunities for young people, attracting sustainable investments, and positioning the state as a globally recognised centre of excellence.

Participants at the event gave the Vice-Chancellor a standing ovation, with many describing his presentation as a visionary blueprint for building an "Unstoppable Anambra" and reaffirming the pivotal role of Nnamdi Azikiwe University in the state's social and economic transformation.
