A final-year student from the Combined Social Sciences program at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), John Udochukwu Elekwachi, known for his campus blog under the name John El, has reportedly been abducted by unidentified armed men. Myschoolnews has learned that Elekwachi was taken in the middle of the night, only a few days after completing his final-year exams.

Elekwachi's elder sister, Uchendu, shared in an interview with news men that she received a distress call indicating that her brother had been taken by armed men who stormed his lodge with four Hilux trucks and one Jeep. The incident has left the Elekwachi family and the UNN community in shock, with no updates regarding the victim's whereabouts.

"I was in Port Harcourt on Tuesday when they called me. The landlady said some unknown men came to my brother's lodge with four Hilux and one Jeep by 3 a.m., and took him away on Monday. Since then, we have not heard from him, and those people have not called since then," Uchendu explained.

The family has since reported the incident to various authorities, including the Enugu State Criminal Investigation Department, the Department of Security Services, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, but has not received any information on Elekwachi's location or condition.

In response to the abduction, the Executive Council of the Combined Social Sciences Students Association (COMSSA), UNN chapter, issued a statement co-signed by the President, Okonkwo Richard, and the General Secretary, Obolo Mmesoma, confirming the incident and expressing concern for the campus blogger's safety.

"It is with concern that we announce that our classmate and campus blogger, Elekwachi John U (John El), has been reported missing. He was last seen on April 15, 2024, at his lodge in the Green House," the statement read. "An eyewitness gave an alleged account of John being taken away by armed men who arrived with four Hilux trucks, but the name of the agency was not disclosed."

COMSSA is working closely with authorities and Elekwachi's family to ensure his safe return. They urge anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact UNN security or any federal agency immediately. The association also warned against spreading unconfirmed reports or allegations that could harm Elekwachi's character, threatening legal action against offenders.
