“You’re Primarily Here to Study,” FUNAAB Dean of Student Affairs Charges Freshers on Day 2 of Orientation
The Dean of Student Affairs, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Prof. Festus Adeosun, has reminded newly admitted students that their foremost mission at the University is to study diligently and excel academically.
Speaking on September 19, 2025, at the Prof. Oluwafemi Balogun Ceremonial Building during Day 2 of the Orientation Programme, Prof. Adeosun urged the freshers to stay focused on their studies while avoiding distractions and behaviours that could jeopardise their future.

He advised students to strictly adhere to University rules and regulations, stressing that actions leading to the Student Disciplinary Committee (SDC) could result in rustication.
The day featured several informative sessions designed to help students adjust to academic life. Chairman of the Time-table and Examination Committee (TIMTEC), Engr. (Prof.) Pius Dada, enlightened the freshers on “Time-table and Examination Rules and Regulations,” emphasising early course registration, punctuality, and the dangers of examination malpractice.
The Ag. Director of Health Services, Dr. Oluseyi Anjorin (represented by Dr. Oyelekan Nasir), sensitised students on “Health Services, Sexually Transmitted Diseases, AIDS, and Related Issues.” University Counsellor, Dr. Modesta Ofodile, delivered a session on “Self-defeating Behaviour, Etiquette, Mannerisms, and Decorum,” while Mrs. Felicia Olaleye of the Counselling Unit addressed “Decent Dressing and the Image of the University.”

To further enrich the programme, Prof. Ishola Odeyemi led the freshers in learning the University Anthem, while student entertainer David Oluwasegun engaged the audience with humour.
The event concluded interactively, with new students asking questions and receiving clarifications on matters concerning their academic and social life on campus.
