Yusuf Maitama Sule University Kano (YUMSUK) has made significant progress towards establishing a Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, a move that aligns with the university's strategic goals of enhancing its academic offerings and positioning itself as a center of excellence in Nigeria.

A committee led by Professor Aliyu Abdu, Acting Provost of the College of Health Sciences, presented a report to the Vice Chancellor, Professor Mukhtar Atiku Kurawa, outlining the roadmap for the establishment of the faculty. The committee's report highlighted the university's readiness, citing robust physical infrastructure and a strategic staffing plan.

The proposed faculty will offer four undergraduate programs: Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS), Bachelor of Radiography, Bachelor of Nursing, and Doctor of Physiotherapy. The staffing plan includes a blend of full-time academics, supplemented by professionals sourced through sabbatical leaves, visiting professorships, and transfers of service from other institutions.

The Vice Chancellor expressed his gratitude to the committee and assured that the university would implement the recommendations. He emphasized the administration's determination to elevate YUMSUK's status within the academic landscape of Nigeria.
