YUSAD Schools Hail FUGA VC for Donating 150 Tree Seedlings
The Management, Board of Trustees, Parents-Teachers Association, PTA, staff and students of YUSAD Standard Group of Schools have commended the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Gashua, FUGA, Professor Yaqub Ahmed Geidam, for donating 150 tree seedlings to the school under the FUGA Green Code initiative.
Led by the Principal, Muhammad Musa Dogona, a school delegation paid a thank-you visit to the Vice-Chancellor, describing the gesture as a significant contribution to environmental sustainability and community development.
Dogona said the school viewed the donation not merely as 150 seedlings, but as “150 seeds of hope, responsibility and a greener future.”
He disclosed that some seedlings had already been planted on the school premises, while others were given to parents to plant in their homes and communities, noting that the initiative was gradually becoming a community-wide environmental movement.
In their separate remarks, PTA Chairman, Dr Musa Ahmad Dogona, Alhaji Dauda Makama and Dr Abdulhamid Dauda commended the administration’s impact beyond the university environment, saying Gashua had witnessed remarkable development under Professor Geidam, particularly in strengthening university-community relations.

Responding, Professor Geidam said he was touched that people outside the University were beginning to recognise its impact on the wider society.
He noted that FUGA, located among institutions closest to the desert, bore a responsibility to address environmental challenges through practical interventions, and that the Green Code initiative was designed to instil environmental responsibility in students so they graduate not only with certificates but also with a tree planted and a sense of duty to the environment.
He thanked the delegation and commended the school’s support, noting that growing participation from schools, parents and the wider community showed that the initiative was extending beyond the campus into a broader movement.
Present during the visit were the University Librarian, Dr Adam Gambo Saleh; the Bursar, Mallam Muhammad Ahmad Ali; the Head of the Department of Forestry and Wildlife Management, Dr Lucky Wakawa; and other staff and representatives of YUSAD Standard Group of Schools.
