At the Sickbay, Deputy Director of University Health Services, Dr. Alex Otu, detailed the urgent need for rehabilitation across several units, including the operating theatre, emergency room, dental section, and the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) unit. Dr. Otu noted that the ABU Sickbay currently manages the highest number of NHIS clients in Nigeria, highlighting the facility's critical role in the community.

Upon concluding the inspection, Shamsuddeen Ibrahim expressed concern over the extent of the deterioration. He confirmed that a technical team will be deployed to the sites in early January 2026 to finalize assessments and formally take over the project for rehabilitation.
