8-Year-Old Prodigy Jordin Phipps Awarded $10,000 Scholarship, Sets Record as University of Northern Texas' Youngest Recipient

In a remarkable achievement, 8-year-old Jordin Phipps has etched her name in history as the youngest person ever to receive the Presidential Excellence Scholarship at the University of Northern Texas. The $10,000 award was bestowed upon her after a video featuring her daily motivational mantra went viral, capturing the attention of university administrators.

Jordin's empowering mantra, recited daily at Watson Technology Center in Garland, Texas, reads: "I will start my day in a positive way! I will be respectful with the words that I say. I will pay attention and I will do my best, and I will study hard for every test! I am smart. I am a leader. Failure is not an option for me. Success is only moments away."

The video, shared on Facebook by Jordin's mother, Nichole Smith, an Alumnus of the University of Northern Texas, gained widespread recognition. University officials, moved by Jordin's enthusiasm, reached out to present her with the prestigious scholarship.

Director of Admissions, Rebecca Lothringer, expressed, "Her enthusiasm was felt far across our campus. Our president was the one who reached out and said, 'I want to do something for Jordin and her family'." The University administrators, including Lothringer, personally traveled to meet Jordin and announce her achievement.

Jordin, donning a University of North Texas T-shirt in the video, proudly declared, "I have the attitude of a North Texas Eagle." Alongside the scholarship, she is guaranteed a spot in the school's Class of 2030.
