ABSU VC Receives Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN) Verification Team, Reaffirms Commitment to Academic Excellence
The Vice-Chancellor of Abia State University, Uturu (ABSU), Professor Ndukwe J. Okeudo, thursday, 11th June 2026, received the team from the Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria (PCN) on a verification visit to the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the University.
The Vice-Chancellor, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor (Mrs.) Roseline Ndimele expressed appreciation for the visit and assured them of the commitment of the Governor of Abia State and Visitor to the University, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, as well as the University's Governing Authorities to provide the necessary support, facilities, and manpower required to position the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences among the best in Nigeria.
Professor Ndimele further acknowledged the unprecedented support of the Governor, particularly in approving the recruitment of additional academic staff to strengthen the Faculty's manpower base. She assured them that all observations and recommendations arising from the verification exercise would receive prompt attention ahead of the accreditation exercise.

Earlier, the leader of the verification team, Professor Oluwatoyin Odeku, while commiserating with the University over the demise of the pioneer Dean of the Faculty, Professor Oleka Udeala, explained that they were in the University to assess the adequacy of facilities, manpower, and other support services available in the Faculty in preparation for the forthcoming professional accreditation exercise.
She appreciated the Vice-Chancellor and Management for the warm reception accorded them and noted that the exercise had provided an opportunity to identify areas requiring urgent attention to ensure full compliance with the professional requirements of the Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria.
Professor Odeku, also commended the staff of the Faculty for their dedication and commitment, which she observed reflected in the progress recorded by the Faculty, and encouraged them to sustain the good work.
In their seperate vote of thanks at the courtesy and exit meetings, the Registrar, Dr. Acho Elendu and the Dean Faculty of Pharmaceutical sciences, Professor Stanley Ukwueze, thanked the team for the visit and expressed confidence that the meeting would contribute significantly to the continued growth and development of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
The University Librarian, Director of Academic Planning, and other members of the Faculty were present during the visit.
