A letter dated 14th December, 2023 and signed by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Kabiru Bala, constituting the committee, named Prof Sani A Abdullahi of the Department of Business Administration as Chairman.

The letter said it became necessary for the institution to institute a reward and special recognition system for staff members in general and those who occupy positions of authority in the management of the University.

It further said such staf members as "Deans and Heads of Department who have made outstanding contributions to the objectives of the University, and to national and international developments" will be so rewarded and recognised.

This, according to the letter, would be in addition to the already established built-in reward system of normal promotions.

The committee, "University Reward and Recognition System Committee", is expected to develop scoring criteria/template to measure outstanding contributions made by staff members.

It is also charged with the responsibility of recommending forms and categories of reward and/or recognition to staff who have met the set criteria.

The committee is equally expected to recommend beneficiaries for award and/or recognition subject to Management's approval as well as make any other recommendations to enhance the letter and spirit of the initiative.
