ABU Management on Tour of Student Hostels

The Management of Ahmadu Bello University led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, has embarked on a tour of some student hostels to assess their living conditions.

The Vice-Chancellor interacted with the Hall Administrators and students at the hostels visited. A lot of issues were raised.

These issues bordered around water supply, lighting, plumbing amongst others. The Vice-Chancellor promised to look into the issues identified. However, he brought to bare the inadequacy of accommodation charges to maintain these hostels.

“The fee being paid for accommodation at Ahmadu Bello University is definitely the lowest charged in contemporary institutions”, he said. He added that accommodation charges are hardly able to pay for power supply to the hostels, but promised to do as much as he can with the available resources.

The President, Student Representatives Council, Jibril Idris, expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor and the Management of ABU for the tour and also promised to do their bit to maintain the hostel facilities.
