The newly constructed roads at College of Agriculture and Animal Science, Mando, Kaduna, were today commissioned by the Vice-Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University, Prof. Kabiru Bala.
Commissioning the road project today, the Vice-Chancellor expressed satisfaction with the quality of the work and commended the Director, Division of Agricultural Colleges (DAC), Prof. Musa Abdullahi Mahadi, for the effort towards realization of the project.
“Let me with all sincerity congratulate Prof. Musa Abdullahi Mahadi, the Director, Division of Agricultural Colleges and the entire staff and students of the College on this project. This is most commendable. I don’t want to take the credit myself because the credit is yours,” he said.
The Vice-Chancellor described Prof. Mahadi’s appointment as the Director of the Division as a “round peg in a round hole.”
“I would want to say that Prof. Mahadi is the best Director so far; we sincerely thank God for that; and we thank Prof. Mahadi for the giant strides made at Division of Agricultural Colleges,” he also said.
The Vice-Chancellor enjoined all staff, students and alumni of the University to be more committed to ABU and the ideal of its founding fathers.
In his remarks at the brief occasion, the Director, Division of Agricultural Collages, Prof. Musa Abdullahi Mahadi, explained that the road project was a direct response to the challenge thrown to him by the Vice-Chancellor when he was appointed Director.
Prof. Mahadi was of the opinion that the new roads would enhance the teaching and learning in the College, and expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor for his unflinching support to the Division which culminated in the execution of many projects.
Earlier in his address of welcome, the Provost, College of Agriculture and Animal Science, Mando, Kaduna, Dr. Hassan Hamidu, explained that the road project was executed for the second time after the one constructed when the College was first established by the Premier of the Northern Region, Sir, Ahmadu Bello, the Sardauna of Sokoto, in 1951.
The Vice-Chancellor was later conducted round the College to inspect some projects that included irrigation facilities constructed by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development as well as the Animal Health and Production Technology Complex.
Some of the personalities that attended the occasion included Provost, Samaru College of Agriculture, Prof. E.M. Shaibu; Division Librarian, Dr. Hassan Usman; Resident Internal Auditor, Malam Abdullahi Musa; and Finance Officer, Malam Mustapha Mahmud.
Others were Admissions Officer, Mrs. Bilkisu Aliyu; Editor-in-Chief DAC Newsletter, Dr. R.Z. Afegbua; Ag. Protocol Officer, Miss B.D. Olumorin; Division Security Officer, Malam Sanusi Mohammed Adamu; and E.O. Protocol, Malam Aliyu Yunusa.
They also included Deputy Provost, College of Agriculture and Animal Science, Mando, Dr. Fatima I. Mohammed; and Coordinator, Enterpreneurship Centre, College of Agriculture and Animal Science, Malam Abdullahi Mohammed.
