VC Declares Open IOE’s Conference on Policy Formulation in Nigerian Education System

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, today declared open a four-day 2nd National Conference on ‘Research and Development in Policy Formulation and Implementation in Nigerian Educational System’ organised by the Institute of Education, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. 

Prof. Bala said the theme of the conference was chosen to address the current issues on policy formulation and implementation at the tertiary, secondary and primary levels of education. 

The Vice-Chancellor strongly believed that the three selected scholars from different parts of the country would guide the presentations at the conference. 

He then commended the Institute of Education for the giant stride in creating an avenue for scholars to discuss issues on education as a vehicle for national re-orientation and development in Nigeria. 

In his remark, the Chairman, Dr. Hamid Bobboyi, the Executive Secretary, Universal Basic Education Commission, who was represented by Prof. Bala Zakari of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, acknowledged the various supports UBEC had been giving to the education system. 

While welcoming the participants and lead paper presenters to the conference, the Director, Institute of Education, Prof. Bashir A. Maina, expressed the Institute’s immense appreciation to UBEC, and the University management for their support in organizing the conference. 

Dr. Asiyatu Abubakar Bagudu, Department of Adult Education and Extension, Faculty of Education and Extension Services, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, spoke on “Research and Development in Policy Formulation and Implementation at Primary Level of Education in Nigeria: Challenges and Way Forward”.   

Prof. M.C. Anuna, Department of Educational Administration and Planning, Abia State University, Uturu, Abia State, presented a paper on “Research and Development in Policy Formulation and Implementation at Secondary Level of Education in Nigeria: Challenges and Way Forward”.   

Prof. B. Emunemu, Department of Educational Management, University of Ibadan, talked on “Research and Development in Policy Formulation and Implementation at Tertiary Level of Education in Nigeria: Challenges and Way Forward”.
