ABU Vice-Chancellor lays foundation of ACENPEE’s permanent office

 

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, today (Wednesday, 21st February, 2024) laid the foundation of the permanent site for the African Centre of Excellence on New Pedagogies in Engineering Education (ACENPEE).

The office structure is sited at the Sasakawa Complex directly opposite the College of Medical Sciences, Main Campus, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. 

Speaking at the laying foundation ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, explained that the project was dear to him as it was sited at the right location in accordance with the institution’s masterplan.

The Vice-Chancellor, who expressed satisfaction with the work the Centre was doing, commended the World Bank for providing a fully funded research body for the University. 

Earlier in his address of welcome, the Centre Director, Prof. Raymond B. Bako, said the building was part of the World Bank Project requirement that operates under DLI7 with same design as the other 54 centres across the country.

Prof. Bako, who is the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, commended the Vice-Chancellor’s tremendous support to the Centre by giving it the freedom of operations, as well as encouragement by the Management. 

He also appreciated the commitment of staff of the Centre towards the realisation of the project and for all the needed funds required for the work from its beginning to completion. 

Also speaking at the ground breaking ceremony, the Director, Physical Planning and Municipal Services, Arc. Suleiman Mohammed, talked briefly on the project. 

He said that it is a one-storey building consisting of one conference room, one kitchen, a canteen, computer research room, techno pedagogy laboratory, telepresence hall, library, one meeting room and a reception.

The Centre Deputy Director, Prof. Ahmed Salau Abdulkarim, thanked all the invited guests for attending the event. 

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Prof. Ahmed Doko Ibrahim, was among the many personalities that graced the well-attended ground breaking ceremony.
