ABU Zaria Reschedules Recognition Ceremony for Staff and Alumni Following End of Union Strike

The Management of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has announced the new date for its highly anticipated ceremony to honour 156 staff members, service delivery units, and alumni for their outstanding performance.

According to a Special Bulletin released on Monday, May 11, 2026, the event, which recognizes contributions from 2025, has been rescheduled .

The recognition ceremony was originally postponed due to industrial action by the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU). Following the suspension of the strike on May 11, the university has moved swiftly to conclude the awards process.

The awardees include 140 individual staff members, as well as various research groups, alumni, and service delivery units. These recipients were recommended by the University Reward and Recognition System Committee for their exceptional service to the institution and their contributions to national and international development.
