ACU Governing Council Member, Prof. Ayowole Clocks 80, Donates Autobiography to University
A member of the Ajayi Crowther University (ACU), Oyo, Governing Council, Prof. Gabriel Ayowole Kolawole, has marked his 80th birthday in a unique and generous manner, donating copies of his autobiography titled "I Am Gabriel Ayowole" to the university.
The book presentation, which took place at the university's Council Chamber, was received on behalf of the institution by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ebunoluwa Oduwole, alongside members of her management team.

Also present to felicitate the erudite scholar was another ACU Council Member, Bishop Babatunde Ogunbanwo of the Ijebu South-West Diocese.
The autobiography chronicles the remarkable life journey of Prof. Ayowole, from a village boy in Okemesi-Ekiti, born into a family of 19 children, to a towering figure in science, education, and faith. The book narrates how the young boy, often carried on his father's shoulders across raging waters, rose to become a renowned professor, a loving husband and father, a beloved grandfather, a well-travelled academic, a mentor to students in both Nigeria and South Africa, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (London), and a Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Science, among other distinctions.
Described as a "tonic for strength" for the common man without the privilege of a silver spoon, the book offers a no-holds-barred account of a man who had many reasons to settle for less but rose time and again with courage, determination, and unwavering faith in God.
In an engaging and easy-to-follow style, the author walks readers through the simple beginnings of his journey.
More than a personal memoir, the autobiography serves as a beacon of hope for anyone striving to rise above limitations, and an invaluable guide to balancing career success, family life, enduring friendships, and a faith that stands the test of time.
Before the presentation, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Oduwole had congratulated Prof. Ayowole on the milestone, and commended him for his generosity and legacy of excellence.
Others described the celebrant as "a worthy ambassador of faith and learning."
