Ajayi Crowther University has reinforced its commitment to experiential learning as Vice-Chancellor Ebunoluwa Oduwole paid a working visit to a Surveying and Geo-Informatics field camp located in the Kosobo area of Oyo.

The visit, conducted on Monday, May 4, 2026, brought together students of Surveying and Geo-Informatics from Ajayi Crowther University and the Federal School of Surveying Oyo, who are currently undergoing intensive practical field training.
The Vice-Chancellor was accompanied by senior university officials, including the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Folake Olanbiwonninu; Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Olukayode Binuyo; University Librarian, Bosede Ajiboye; and the Dean of Students, Cornelius Ojo.
The delegation was received by officials from the host institution, including the Director of the Students’ Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES), Mrs. Lateefat Oyelakin; Chief Instructor, Mr. Adebowale Bashir; and Technologist, Mrs. Omotola Olayiwola.

During the engagement, Mrs. Oyelakin explained that students had been exposed to modern surveying technologies, including total stations, satellite-based positioning systems, theodolites, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and hydrographic survey equipment. She added that the participants were scheduled for practical examinations on May 4 and May 5, 2026, with a possibility of extending similar training opportunities to staff for capacity development.
In her remarks, Vice-Chancellor Ebunoluwa Oduwole expressed satisfaction with the level of hands-on training provided, describing it as a deliberate shift towards strengthening field competence alongside classroom instruction.
She noted that the presence of the university management at the camp underscored the importance placed on practical education. According to her, the 11 ACU students participating in the programme will be expected to demonstrate mastery of the skills acquired during the exercise.
She further disclosed plans for the students to apply their training by conducting a survey of the university’s Offa-Meta campus land, describing it as a real-world test of their competence and readiness.

Ajayi Crowther University reaffirmed that its academic model prioritises practical exposure, with the Vice-Chancellor expressing confidence that the students will excel in their upcoming practical assessments and future professional engagements.
