Ajayi Crowther University (ACU) has taken a significant step toward a cleaner and more environmentally sustainable campus with the official launch of the ACU Sustainable Landscape Management, Greening, and Beautification Project by Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ebunoluwa Olufemi Oduwole.
The initiative began with Prof. Oduwole’s visit to the University’s main gate, where she expressed concern over the untidy entrance and the conduct of some security personnel. She ordered the confiscation and disposal of certain items at the gatehouse and directed that the gatehouse be repainted ahead of the November Convocation Ceremony, emphasizing that the University’s image begins at its entrance. She also instructed that commercial motorcyclists using the frontage as a makeshift garage be relocated and that surrounding bushes and debris be cleared promptly.
The project, overseen by Mr. Femi Idowu of Moffry Consult, commenced with a training session for ACU gardeners. The initiative will include parks, gardens, walkways, lawns, kerb installations, and tree planting, aimed at transforming the campus into a model of environmental aesthetics. The planned parks are designed to provide recreational and relaxation spaces for both staff and students, enhancing the University’s learning, social, and research environment.
Mr. Idowu formally presented the project plan to the Vice-Chancellor, alongside Deputy Vice-Chancellor Prof. Olumuyiwa Popoola, Acting Registrar Ven. Olusegun Ojo, and University Librarian Dr. (Mrs.) Bosede Ajiboye at the Council Chamber. Following the presentation, Prof. Oduwole emphasized that the project has officially begun and must be sustained, calling on all staff to contribute to its success.

Prof. Popoola remarked, “The blowing wind of change in the University is surely for a positive change so that we can be ranked among the best universities in the world.”
The initiative reflects ACU’s commitment to creating a more beautiful, environmentally friendly, and functional campus for learning, research, and community wellbeing.
