The Governing Council of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State has approved the promotion of eight academic staff of the institution to Professors, and twelve others to Readers.

The Governing Council of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State has approved the promotion of eight academic staff of the institution to Professors, and twelve others to Readers.

Myschoolnews reports the Council gave the approval at its 40th Regular Meeting held on Thursday, 22nd June, 2023.

 

Those elevated to the rank of Professor include: Elom Nwabueze, Professor of Analytical and Environmental Chemistry; Ekwe Amobi Chigozie, Professor of Applied Geophysics; Anyaegbunam Emenike, Professor of Social Psychology; Obidike Paul .C; Professor of Development Finance; Egwu Ogugua, Professor of Anatomical Anthropology; Eteng Mary .I, Professor of Development Sociology; Uwa Clementina .U, Professor of Environmental Biology and Ezeugwu Charles .N, Professor of Water Resources and Environmental Engineering.

 

Meanwhile the 12 other academics promoted to the position of Reader are: Dr. Munonye Jane, Dr. Okolo Chinwe Jane, Dr. Aloh Rita Uzoma, Dr. Ugwu Fabian D., Dr. Nworie Okoro, Dr. Nwachukwu Arthur Nwachukwu, Dr. Ololo Kennedy, Dr. Agboti Christian .I, Dr. Ibiam Okechukwu .E, Dr. Uduma Ngozi .E, Dr. Nwosu Innocent .A and Dr. Ume Cyril Sunday.

 

In total, the Council approved the promotion of 609 staff of the university to the next rank. The breakdown shows that 104 teaching and 505 (308 senior and 196 Junior) non-teaching staff respectively were elevated by Council at the meeting.

 

Speaking after the meeting, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sunday O. Elom noted that the welfare of staff would remain on the front burner of his administration, assuring that no staff that met the requisite criteria would be victimized or denied promotion under any guise.

 

He therefore urged those that have benefitted from the promotion to see it as an opportunity to put in extra efforts in the discharge of their official responsibilities, adding that the vision of making AE-FUNAI a world-class institution is a task that must be accomplished.

 

The Vice-Chancellor further stated that other professorial cadre assessments are still being processed.
