AKCILS Ag. Provost Seeks Stronger Ties With Kano State Judiciary

The Acting Provost of Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies, AKCILS, Kano, Dr. Ali Tamasi Mu'az, has paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Judge of Kano State and Chairman of the Kano State Judicial Service Commission, Justice Dije Abdu Aboki, to strengthen the long-standing partnership between the College and the State Judiciary.

Speaking during the visit, Dr. Tamasi recalled that since its establishment in 1976, AKCILS has been committed to producing middle-level manpower for the judiciary and other legal institutions.

He said the visit was aimed at appreciating the Kano State Judiciary for its sustained support to the College and reaffirming the cordial relationship between the two institutions.

"I am here to appreciate and thank you for the attention and invaluable contributions the Kano State Judiciary has continued to give to our College. I am also wish to strengthen the cordial working relationship that has existed between us for many years," the Acting Provost said.

Dr. Tamasi also briefed the Chief Judge on recent milestones recorded by the College, including the successful upgrade of its Diploma in Law programme to a National Diploma, ND, and the accreditation of two National Certificate in Education, NCE, programmes.

Despite the achievements, he noted that the institution still faces challenges relating to national recognition and appealed for the continued support of the judiciary and other stakeholders in addressing them.

In her response, Justice Dije Abdu Aboki commended the Acting Provost for the visit and reaffirmed the Judiciary's commitment to supporting the College.

"I am happy to receive you. Wherever we can intervene to alleviate these challenges, we are willing to do so," she said.

The Chief Judge assured the College that the Judiciary would continue to provide assistance whenever called upon.

"We are willing to give you any assistance. Once you draw our attention to any challenge, we are ready to help because the issues you have raised deserve to be addressed," Justice Aboki added.

She also urged the College management to strengthen collaboration with its Alumni Association to mobilise greater support for the institution and pledged to engage Senior Advocates of Nigeria, SANs, and other eminent legal practitioners to contribute to the College's development.

Justice Aboki stressed that, given AKCILS' long-standing role in producing manpower for the justice sector, the institution deserves the collective support of stakeholders across the legal profession.
