AKSU Emerges Top Winner at 2026 NATAP-M Awards, Secures ₦25 Million Prize

Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) has received two outstanding awards from the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

The first award is ₦25 Million Naira for taking the 1st Position in the Gender Balance Admission for 2025/2026 Academic Year, while the Second Award is for emerging the Second Runner-up Institution in the Overall Category of the Mega National Tertiary Admissions Performance (NATAP) Merit Award, 6th Edition. The award presentation took place at the JAMB Policy Meeting held Monday, May 11, 2026 at the Body of Benchers Auditorium, Jabi, Abuja.

The two awards were presented to the Vice-Chancellor of AKSU, Prof. OtoAbasi Akpan by the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa; assisted by the Minister of State for Education, Dr. Suwaiba Said Ahmed; the Registrar and Chief Executive of JAMB, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede; the Director of Admissions, JAMB, Mr. Mohammed Babajide Ahmed; other directors of JAMB; and the Director-General, Nigerian Law School, Dr. Olugbemisola Titilayomi Odusote.

The Policy Meeting which was chaired by the Minister of Education had several officials from the education sector in attendance: the Spokesperson, JAMB, Dr. Fabian Benjamin; Representatives from the National Universities Commission (NUC); Representatives from the National Board of Technical Education (NBTE); Representatives from the National Commission of Education (NCE); Vice-Chancellors of Universities; Rectors of Polytechnics; Provosts of Colleges of Education; Registrars and Admission Officers from various tertiary institutions.
