ATBU warns of fraudsters parading as employers, admission officers

The management of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, has warned members of the public to beware of fraudsters parading as employers of job seekers.

The ATBU, in a press release signed and issued by the Director, Directorate of Information and Public Relations, Zailani Bappa, warned that it has not engaged anyone to recruit on its behalf.

The release contained that “the attention of the management is drawn to the persistent activities of fraudsters in the name of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi.”

Zailani Bappa stressed that “there are reports of people extorting money from unsuspecting job seekers with the promise of offering them a job at the university.”

According to him, “Similarly, there are reports of misguided persons touting in the name of the university to unsuspecting admission seekers who want to join the university in various academic pursuits.”

He stated that “the management hereby informs the general public that the university is not in the process of employing staff in any capacity, nor has it employed any persons to aid the process on its behalf. This also applies to the admissions exercise, which has its own official procedure as well.”

The director added that the public should be wary of these fraudulent persons and report anybody who advances a financial request to them in the name of finding for them either a job or admission to the university.”
