Bauchi State Government Seeks TETFund Support for Technical Education

The Bauchi State Government, led by Governor Bala Mohammed, has reached out to the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) seeking support for its state-owned institutions. Governor Mohammed emphasized the importance of technical training in crucial sectors such as agriculture, oil, and gas, essential for national development.
During a visit to TETFund in Abuja on Tuesday, Governor Mohammed stressed the role of human capital development in addressing challenges like underdevelopment, poverty, and unemployment. He specifically highlighted the need for assistance in the newly-established College of Education, Technical, and vocational training for artisans such as craftsmen, bricklayers, and welders.

He urged TETFund to support initiatives in nursing, health technology, and university education to produce more competent professionals.
In response, TETFund's Executive Secretary, Sonny Echono, commended Bauchi State's commitment to education and pledged support for the newly established college of education. Echono recognized the challenges in finding teachers for technical subjects at the basic level and assured that TETFund's interventions would extend beyond the state to benefit the entire region.
Echono highlighted TETFund's plans for disaster recovery and completion of critical projects, addressing the unique challenges faced by Bauchi State. He emphasized the importance of skills development, especially in agriculture, aligning with the country's need to activate unexplored areas of the economy.
