Jemima Opokua Obeng, hailed as the Most Outstanding Female Contestant in the 2018 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ), has achieved significant success as a civil engineer. Currently pursuing a career in civil engineering, Jemima's journey exemplifies her dedication to academic excellence and her commitment to making a positive impact through her profession.
A graduate of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Jemima played a pivotal role in leading Krobo Girls’ Senior High School to the semifinals of the NSMQ, marking a historic achievement for the school. Despite not advancing to the finals, Jemima's exceptional performance earned her the title of the NSMQ 2018 Best Female Contestant.
Continuing her pursuit of excellence, Jemima earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from KNUST. Since graduating, she has made substantial contributions to the field, demonstrating her skills and passion for problem-solving. Jemima has worked on diverse projects, including a 34-kilometer national road initiative, where she played a crucial role in designing drainage systems and analyzing design papers.
Notably, Jemima's achievements extend beyond her professional endeavors. As a committed volunteer for Engineers Without Borders (EWB) Ghana, she collaborated with EWB Iowa State University on the Water Distribution project in Ullo, Ghana. This initiative underscores her commitment to leveraging her engineering expertise for the betterment of society.
