Bayero University, Kano (BUK), has distributed a second batch of bicycles to its junior staff as part of efforts to ease transportation challenges caused by rising fuel prices and economic hardship.

The university made the announcement on Thursday, February 27, 2025, through its official X page, noting that the initiative aims to provide relief to workers affected by the current economic situation.

According to a statement on BUK’s official website, the distribution took place on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas. The event was coordinated by the Chairman of the Bicycle Loan Committee, Professor Mahmoud Umar Sani, alongside other committee members.

Professor Abbas reiterated the university’s commitment to staff welfare, emphasizing that the initiative is designed to enhance mobility for junior staff.

A total of 47 bicycles were distributed in the second phase, complementing the 100 bicycles given out in the first batch. The university administration believes that the provision of bicycles will help ease commuting difficulties for staff members, ensuring better productivity and well-being.
