Bayero University Kano Vice-Chancellor Receives Leadership Award from Chemical Society of Nigeria

The Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN) has awarded the Academic Leadership Award to Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano, in recognition of his outstanding commitment to the university's development. The award ceremony took place on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at the Convocation Arena.
During the presentation, CSN President Professor Rufus Sha'ato highlighted Professor Abbas's significant contributions, noting that his leadership has transformed the university into a respected institution despite limited financial resources. The award recognizes not only his efforts but also the impressive achievements made under his tenure.
“The Council of the Chemical Society of Nigeria has approved the award of Excellence to distinguished personalities for their leadership qualities and contributions to Nigeria's growth. You, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, are hereby bestowed the Academic Leadership Award,” said Professor Sha'ato.

In response, Professor Abbas expressed gratitude for the honor and assured CSN of the university's continued support. Professor Abbas noted that the last time Bayero University hosted a CSN conference was 30 years ago in 1994.
