Bayero University Tennis Association Honors Vice-Chancellor for Sports Development

The Bayero University Kano (BUK) Tennis Association has presented an award of honor to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, in recognition of his commitment to sports development.

The award, presented on July 9, 2024, at the Vice-Chancellor's office, commended Professor Abbas for renovating the staff and students' tennis courts at the Old Campus, a feat achieved for the first time in over twenty years.

Chairman of the association, Alhaji Kabiru Kakale, represented by Malam Sunusi Shu'aibu, expressed gratitude for the Vice-Chancellor's support and commitment to sporting activities. He appealed for continued support, particularly in preparations for the Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA) and Federation of Africa University Sports (FASU) competitions.

Professor Abbas assured the association of the university's commitment to sports development, despite financial challenges. He advised the association to factor their needs into the budget planned by the Directorate, ensuring easy allocation of resources.

The Director of Sports, Professor Rabi'u Muhammad, introduced the Tennis Association to the Vice-Chancellor and thanked him for his commitments to the Directorate and sporting activities.

The event concluded with a group photograph and the presentation of a plaque to Professor Abbas.
